Due to the quick response of
the Lake City Fire Department
and local emergency medical
crews, the train was
evacuated shortly after the
accident. Amtrak commends
these local heroes for their
quick response.
A freight train heading north struck a tractor trailer at a crossing, which
spilled its contents across the front of the train and onto a car on the
roadway. The tractor trailer was carrying rolls of asphalt, one of which
rolled into a store.
